: Football is nothing without the fans. And as the title of the team Lions XII suggests, the fan is the 12th player. I sought to capture the fans of the new league, to see if indeed they lived up to that ideal. They did not disappoint.
The battle cry of a true fan
The TV hosts prep
“What kind of ball was that?”
Safe and secure hands.
Hello Gorgeous.
A young fan shows me her banner.
When you are tired, your cap can clap for you.
GOOOAAAAALLLLLLLLL!!!
Some people ask if we really have fans of local football in Singapore. Well, after some investigative reporting (googling lah!) here’s what was found.
Lions All The Way is the unofficial supporter’s group for the National Team, made up of supporters of the s-league and anything to do with local football.
The Lions XII Facebook page has over 5,000 fans and is roaring with more than 50% engagement (that is people commenting, sharing and liking stuff on the page). In Facebook terms it’s astronomical as I’ve been told that the average is something like 1.3%. But it’s not surprising, since there’s nothing fans love more than talking about football!
